New CDs from Huddersfield Contemporary Records: transference (HCR02) and strange forces (HCR03)

HCR has published two new discs recorded by ELISION who were Ensemble-in-residence with CeReNeM during 2009-10.  The CDs, transference (music by Mary Bellamy, Bryn Harrison, Aaron Cassidy and Liza Lim) and strange forces (music by Aaron Cassidy, Richard Barrett, Evan Johnson, Klaus K. Hübler, Liza Lim and Timothy McCormack) will be launched on 23 November 2010, 1pm at ELISION’s concert during the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

The CDs were recorded in partnership with the German radio station, Radio Bremen and feature works premiered during hcmf 2009 and ELISION’s Kings Place concert series in London.  Musicologist Tim Rutherford-Johnson has written the liner notes for both discs.

These two new publications follow the release of Sebastian Berweck’s CD Extended Piano (HCR01) in 2009.

Our next release will be  Nothing but the hours (HCRDVD01), a portrait DVD of the work of composer and film maker Geoffrey Cox, performed by Philip Thomas (piano) and with documentary films made in collaboration with Keith Marley.  This will be followed by a CD of electroacoustic music by University of Huddersfield staff and postgraduates.
